This article reports on a one year study of modifications to standard water treatment processes conducted at West Plant, Erie, Pennsylvania. During each of the four seasons of the year, a series of filtration runs were conducted with small dual‐media filters at various filtration rates. The objective was to check the influence of the elimination of flocculators and sedimentation basins on effluent quality and length of run.
