This article discusses the development of automatic cathodic protection for use in water and waste treatment equipment. The article discusses the development of anodes that will eventually phase out the use of aluminum and the requirement for annual replacement. A recent experience with automatic cathodic protection in a tank owned by the city of Birmingham, Alabama, is included.
