This study was conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey at the request of the Bonneville Power Administration as one component of the Pacific Northwest Economic Base Study. The specific objectives of the study were to: analyze and describe briefly the major elements of the regional hydrologic system, and the relations of those elements to each other and to the supplies of water available; determine and compare the quantities of freshwater available and the water requirements in subareas of the region as of 1960; and, determine whether the water supplies in the Pacific Northwest will be adequate to satisfy requirements to the year 2010.
