In order to determine the improvement made in salaries paid to water utility managers in the U.S. and Canada since the 1957 salary survey, the AWWA Committee on Compensation of Water Utility Personnel conducted another survey in 1963 on a similar basis. The 1963 survey used the same salary and population classifications and area breakdowns as the 1957 survey. Both surveys indicated whether the manager was employed by privately owned (by individuals, partnerships, or corporations) or publicly owned utilities. The article lists survey objectives along with survey methods, and provides a summary of 1963 salaries.
