This article discusses a study of ion‐exchange resins at Du Pont's Savannah River plant – anion resins, in particular, because of their shorter lives and high unit costs. Efforts to improve the deionization process included: in‐service evaluation of various resin types; study of several rejuvenation processes; and, analysis of the resins and the water distribution systems within the units to determine reasons for loss of capacity.
