This article discusses the job responsibilities of a purchasing agent, and offers several examples of a properly run purchasing department. Value analysis is presented as an organized creative approach for efficiently identifying unnecessary expense that results in neither greater quality nor quantity of product or service. It is a method for focusing attention on one objective, equivalent or improved performance for lower cost.
