This article acknowledges that there is a water supply problem in the U.S., but that it is far from a crisis. The article discusses several conditions that present the water industry with competition for natural water supply, including: natural competition; pollution; agricultural competition; and, recreational competition. To solve this issue of competition for water resources, the article recommends researching the various economic facts of water resources, eliminating waste in the industry, reconsidering rate schedules with sliding scales, and providing customers with the information so they can understand the issues in the water industry.
