This article discusses safety at a water plant as the elimination of obvious work hazards, the provision of enough of the right kind of protective equipment, and the training of employees in safe work practice. Chicago's South District Filtration Plant is presented as an example of a utility's management directing the practices of a water plant to insure continuously safe working conditions for all employees.
