This article discusses three aspects of architecture in water utility installations: economic factors; land use requirements; and, aesthetic considerations. Being a matter of taste as well as function, architecture is a controversial issue even among architects, and it is often possible to find as many opponents as proponents for any particular design. Therefore, in this discussion of aesthetic considerations, the authors express only their own opinions (which, because there are two authors, were at times in opposition and required compromise), and there may be some disagreement with the views set forth in this discussion.
