This article focuses on the need to monitor drinking water for naturally occurring bacterial microorganisms such as Legionella and Mycobacterium. Standard coliform and bacterial plate count methods can't detect these bacteria. The article provides suggestions for maintaining basic laboratory microbiological skills.
