This article discusses challenges caused by large variations in average temperatures in Old Town, Maine. Thermal stratification issues in water tanks during both summer and winter were addressed by installing submersible mixers. Uniform water temperatures, chlorine odors, decreases in overall disinfectant residual demand, and operational costs were all improved after installing submersible mixers.
