This is the first column in a series by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Ground Water & Drinking Water to summarize key components of the Ground Water Rule (GWR) and help groundwater systems (GWSs) navigate their way through GWR requirements. The purpose of the rule, the type of water system it applies to, and critical deadlines and requirements are all discussed. The four major components of the rule are listed, and two “frequently asked questions” are answered in the article.
