This article discusses a device for early detection of quagga mussels that uses a monitoring buoy line in reservoirs. The design allows the buoy line and attached anchor to remain in the water, while only the monitoring line is pulled up to check the data. The monitoring line slides up and down the cable and allows the line to spin around the cable without becoming entangled. The design for the monitoring buoy is provided, along with construction for the buoy and monitoring lines.
