This article describes the Fire Hydrant Lift, a device that can be used by one or two people to lift a hydrant's upper barrel and bonnet. The tool gives the workers a firm hold on the hydrant, and, because the entire weight of the hydrant is beneath the tool, stability is also ensured. Construction of the device is discussed, along with benefits and materials used to build it.
