This article highlights a Web‐based tool, developed by the Awwa Research Foundation, to help utilities evaluate the toolbox options to meet the new requirements of the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR). Developed in 2003 as the project, “Application of the LT2ESWTR Toolbox to Retrofit Existing Water Plants,” the tool is a tailored collaboration with the city of Richmond (Virginia) Department of Public Utilities. It was updated in 2007 by the project, “Update of the AwwaRF Web‐Based LT2ESWTR Toolbox Guidance Program.” The tool can be useful to utility personnel as an introduction to the rule and its requirements and as a detailed decision tool that can be used to evaluate all available options.
