This article discusses how strict government regulations and effective communication efforts by public water suppliers are affecting consumer attitudes about tap water quality. The article reports on a 2006 Canadian survey that revealed a significant rebound in consumer confidence in tap water supplies since 2002. The results of a similar 2005 American survey are also presented and discussed, revealing that Americans are slightly more trusting of private utilities than governments to provide them with accurate information about their drinking water supplies.
