This article discusses the author's experience with the inequality of operator certification from state to state and the importance of reciprocity between states. The article gives recommendations for obtaining an operator's license after moving to a new state. A table comparing the license requirements for New York State Grade II‐A with Midwest State Class III Operator certification requirements as of 1997 is provided.
