The Mohawk Water Treatment Plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, developed the Butterfly Valve Installer to install new filter influent and waste valves. This device allows a valve to be changed out at the rate of one per day, including the time it takes to link the valve back up to the influent or flange and put it back in service. This device minimizes the need for heavy lifting, chain hoists, jacks, and other conventional methods of changing out large valves, thus minimizing down time while valves are changed and reducing the potential for injury.
