This article discusses methods of improving communication with the public on community‐intrusive improvement projects. Methods discussed include: a videotape emphasizing areas where customers commonly had problems; improving the initial letter mailed to customers; developing a fact sheet for the staff; conducting a post‐project survey; and, holding a public meeting before starting a project.
