This article describes an aggressive program used by the Pennsylvania American Water Company to reduce unaccounted‐for water. As part of this program, PAWC developed a project to install significantly more system meters in the distribution system to calculate the amount of unaccounted‐for water in relatively small zones. Two different technologies are described: differential pressure pressure‐reducing valves (PRVs), and PRV‐turbine meters. Several related projects are discussed and a list of additional construction work that was required at many of the sites is given.
