This article discusses methods to involve the entire staff of a water plant in the financial planning/budgeting for short‐term and long‐term operational, maintenance, and capital needs. Methods for categorizing investments by unit process are discussed along with tracking major maintenance costs. Suggestions are given on presenting the proposal in a concise and easily understandable format.
