The Main Break Spray Shield has been used to repair breaks on 6‐in. water mains at 60 to 65 psi without getting crews wet. The only real limit to the use of the shield has been if damage to a pipe is so severe that the pumps being used to dewater the excavation cannot keep up. The Main Break Spray Shield minimizes a main break's impact on water service by allowing crews to fix leaks easily without shutting off large areas and by reducing the need to notify extended areas of a water shutdown.
