This is the second of two articles by the American Water Works Association's Coagulation and Filtration Committee on enhanced coagulation and softening as they pertain to the new Stage 1 Disinfectants/Disinfection Byproducts Rule. The first article, in the June 1999 issue of Opflow, addressed the why and how of enhanced treatment. This article discusses the secondary effects of enhanced treatment.
