This article discusses the importance of solid planning and effective management strategies to prevent hydrilla infestations and control the plant if it becomes established. Key elements in management of hydrilla are water‐user involvement, prevention, and rapid response to new infestations. Virtually all bodies of water in the southern tier of states are susceptible to some level of infestation, particularly those with boat traffic.
