Last year the US Environmental Protection Agency was allocated funding to establish six new small public water systems Technology Assistance Centers (TAC) across the nation. Individual grants of $400,000 each were awarded in fiscal year 1998 to five colleges and universities in Alaska, California, Illinois, Maryland, and Pennsylvania to develop programs, which are now up and running. This article outlines the objectives of each TAC and gives contact information.
