This article describes a filter profile tool to be used in conjunction with painters' scaffolding. The device allows readings to be taken by one person on the scaffold, with a second person reading the measurement with a surveyor's transit. This eliminates confined‐space entry and cuts down the personnel required for the job by 50 percent. Materials, construction methods, usage, and the computerization of data are discussed.
