This article discusses backsiphonage as a form of backflow in residential situations. It stresses the importance of each water service connection complying with all plumbing codes, and that the homeowner's irrigation system have routine performance checks. A display board included in the article demonstrates how backsiphonage occurs through a broken water main when a discharge valve is opened at the pipe break scene.
