Public Notification: Useful Tool for Systems

If a water system violates a drinking water regulation, public notification is required. The purpose of public notification is to inform consumers of any potential adverse health effects related to their drinking water and the steps consumers can take to minimize their health risk. Properly done, public notices can benefit the water suppliers as well as the public. If customers understand the problem and the steps being taken to correct it, panic and angry phone calls may be prevented.
