Implementation of optimal corrosion‐control treatment is the principal lead control strategy in the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR). Meeting your deadlines for treatment implementation is especially important. Deadlines are the principal means of enforcement for the LCR. In other words, miss a deadline, and you're in violation. Many states have not yet adopted the LCR. In these cases, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is the primary enforcement agency.
