The Santa Margarita Water District (SMWD) requires that employees must practice using self‐contained breathing apparatus each quarter. Under the guidance of trained individuals, each employee must don the equipment without assistance, clear the mask, and perform a test within a hostile environment. This article describes how the practice session is organized and carried out.
