Surface water systems that are covered by the Surface Water Treatment Rule (SWTR) should start thinking about how to meet the rule's requirements. Whether the system filters or not, steps can be taken to avoid violations and their costly consequences. The article lists steps to be taken by system that do not filter, systems that filter, and suggestions for all systems to meet requirements for disinfection residual.
