A new medium has been developed for the detection of stressed bacteria. This medium, designated m‐T7, will minimize inhibition of stressed coliform. To ensure that stressed coliforms do not leave the water treatment plant and enter the distribution system, m‐T7 or a similar selective medium should be used.
