The minicorder recorder was designed to monitor water main pressure over a twenty‐four hour period. The recorder was used on water mains in Hutchinson, Kansas, a city in which some areas have had forty‐five to fifty main breaks in the last fifteen years. The minicorder recorder is mounted on a fire hydrant. With the fire hydrant completely open, it records the pressure within the main for a given twenty‐four hour period. This pressure recorder is versatile and can be moved to any location within the city. Directions for construction of the minicorder recorder and for its use are included in this article. Approximate cost for materials is $225.
