This article presents general procedures for calibrating several types of liquid‐ and dry‐chemical feeders, such as large‐volume metering pumps for liquid alum, small‐volume metering pumps for sodium hexametaphosphate, and dry‐chemical feed systems for such chemicals as activated carbon, fluoride, and lime. Pump calibrations can be used to determine the pump setting needed to deliver a required chemical feed rate.
