The Water Quality Surveillance Section of the Chicago Department of Water has a program of monitoring free chlorine residuals in the distribution system and collecting samples to determine and maintain high quality water. Components of the program include daily water sampling at various points, an employee home sampling procedure, a monthly perimeter survey, comprehensive chemical analysis surveys, and interstate carrier terminal surveys.
