A fire hydrant diffuser featured in OpFlow April 1976 has sparked much interest. The device, designed by employees of the Omaha Municipal Utilities District, allows one person to open several hydrants without great danger to bystanders or nearby property. The diffuser is also used for dewatering large mains or chlorinating new mains. Diffuser design and availability information is given.
