A water well is a hydraulic structure that can become either an efficient tool or a highly inefficient, poorly constructed problem. Efficient water wells depend on construction and development techniques to improve permeability around the well. Good results have been obtained through surging, the high pressure jetting technique, and over‐pumping and air‐development methods.
