National interest was directed to tragedies when fires broke out in public buildings in Nevada and New York state recently. This article, from a paper presented at the Distribution System Symposium (Feb. 24–27. 1980) in Los Angeles, points out the importance of inspection and maintenance of the fire service lines that provide protection for large public buildings.
