This article stresses the need for written procedures and records for even a routine job such as meter tie‐ons. Knowing the right location and exactly where the water main is, and remembering to flush the service line, check the chlorination, and record certain information on the meter card will assure that the procedure is carried out efficiently with a minimal investment of time, money, and unnecessary accidents.
