With the Safe Drinking Water Act going into effect on June 24, 1979, sampling and testing for inorganic substances in water will become routine. Sampling is one of the four major steps which needs to be followed in order to keep water systems in compliance with the new regulations. There are three types of sampling: initial, routine, and check. All three are discussed and a general sampling procedure is provided.
