Lubrication is usually the first line of defense in the maintenance of water treatment equipment. It is certainly a major area of concern with regard to clarifiers, grit removal equipment, and all types of pumps. This article explains how the use of a “lube chart” will be helpful for identifying the following: major and subequipment items; exact type of lubricant for each item; frequency of inspection and change of lubricant; and the individual responsible for lubrication maintenance.
