Bearing lubrication is an important step in pump maintenance procedures. Under average operating conditions, it is recommended that an ounce of grease be added at intervals of three to six months and that only clean grease be used. Mineral greases with a soda soap base are recommended. A regular maintenance timetable should be instituted with monthly inspection of the bearing temperature, and checking for saponification every three months.
