The St. Louis County Water Company in Missouri experienced a problem with cavitation destruction of ground storage fill lines downstream from the throttling fill valve. The causes of and various solutions to the problem are presented. The building of a stilling chamber immediately downstream from the throttling valve seems to have remedied the problem.
