Advice on home water purifying kits should be given to consumers with great caution. If water taste is improved after passing through a purifier, then any charcoal filter will remove the chlorine taste. When the beneficial action of the device decreases, the filter should be replaced. If the kits collect bacteria, they could pose a serious threat to the user's health. The US Environmental Protection Agency requires any device that is advertised as being effective against microorganisms to be registered with the Agency.
