Aluminum sulfate, also known as alum, must be handled with care in order to prevent injury. The dust may cause irritation to eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Protective clothing should be worn when handling alum. First aid procedures for minor alum‐induced irritations and guidelines for handling and storage of alum liquor are given.
