This article provides a simple and basic approach to the concept of pump curves. Pump terminology is explained. A pump curve is a graph showing the characteristics of a pump. The basic characteristics shown on the graph are capacity (flow rate), head, power (horsepower), and efficiency. It is important to show the interrelationship of these characteristics on the graph.
