Advocates of metric conversion are convinced that the only way to accomplish the switch is by “total immersion,” using metric units exclusively. This idea was proposed and tested at a workshop with forty participants. An experiment was conducted to see how many remembered their heights and weights in metric units. The result was that, when forced to think metric, people will remember metric.
