Peroxidase activity in the onion root tip was localized by the diaminobenzidine procedure and studied at the light and electron microscope levels. Reaction product was observed in the cell wall, on the plasmalemma, in the Golgi apparatus cisternae and vesicles, in young and developing vacuoles, in the endoplasmic reticulum, and on both soluble and membrane‐bound ribosomes. The reaction product at the various cellular and subcellular sites occurs in distinct tissue and developmental patterns.
