A microscopic survey of the achlorophylus plant Monotropa unijlora L. reveals an ectendotrophic mycorrhizal fungus with dolipore septa associated with the roots. Special transfer regions are found in the root cell wall ensheathing all but the ruptured tip of the fungal intrusion.
