W alker , S. (U. Liverpool, England.) The problem of Dryopteris leedsii. Amer. Jour. Bot. 49(9): 971–974. Illus. 1962.—Investigation of 12 plants of ‘Dryopteris leedsii‘ from the type locality in Harford County, Maryland, has revealed 3 cytological entities, diploid, triploid and tetraploid. The diploid and triploid types exhibit hybrid characters and are sterile, while the tetraploid is a fertile species. The relationship between the 3 entities remains a problem, but the possibilities are discussed.
